Guests form an integral part of any hotel in the world. We at The Orchid, have left no stone unturned in our quest for a clean environment, to the extent that we have provided opportunities for our guests to be a part of our environmental programmes.

GUEST PARTICIPATION PROGRAMMES:

WASTE REDUCTION/RECYCLING PROGRAMME:
  • Newspapers are delivered to guest on request after they have given their consent at the time of check-in. This programme has indicated that only 50% of our guest prefer a newspaper in their rooms.
  • A recycling bin is also placed in all guestrooms for guests to participate in the recycling program.
  • The guests recycle keycards by returning them to the Reception before they check out. A recent study carried out showed that for 1,80,979 check-ins till-date only 13,900 keycards have been used, making it a mere 7.68%!

THE ORCHID EVERGREEN LOYALTY PROGRAMME

"Orchid Evergreen" is the customer loyalty program that has been devised for the guests staying at The Orchid. "Evergreen", as the name suggests is a program that aims at building a long-term & "Evergreen" relationship with the guests as well as provides us a means of thanking the guests for patronising The Orchid. The program is also an endeavour on our part to further the environment friendly causes that The Orchid has been supporting over the past few years.

The Guests who will enroll in the program to become members will earn points for all eligible spends at the hotel. More importantly, "Orchid Evergreen" gives them the option of channeling the points to the "Green Account". All points that are donated to the "Green Account" will be utilized for carrying out environment friendly activities of selected Non-Government Organizations (NGO's). The idea is propagate a thought process where our hotel guests reinforce their commitment to the environment and society at large. The success of this programme not only encourages us to carry on in our mission but also makes it a mass movement by taking it to the grassroots.

ENERGY SAVING PROGRAMME:

Certificate We do not have switches made of plastic, which are harmful to the Environment, in any of our rooms. Instead we have a Master Control Panel, which is made of reprocessed plastic.

Within the room the guest can participate in the energy saving programme by pressing the ECO BUTTON on the Master Control Panel placed alongside the bed. When the guest presses this button the air-conditioned temperature increases by 2 degrees making the room a little warmer. This information is brought down by the Building Management System showing us the number of guest's participating in this programme. More than 30% of our guests participate daily in this Energy Saving Programme of the hotel, and have received certificates from us alongwith a free subscription to the Sanctuary (an environment-based magazine).
