Design - The structure of The Orchid not only helps to reduce surface radiation but heat load as well.
Materials - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle was the watchword while constructing our Hotel consisting of 245 Rooms, Suites and 5 Restaurants. The materials that have been used are environmentally friendly be it right from the use of cement, which is made from fly ash to bricks made from fertilizer waste and furniture made from reused wood.
Equipment - We have used equipment that not only save tremendous amount of energy but conserves precious quantities of water as well. This is possible through our highly efficient Air-conditioning System, Building Management System, Flow Restrictors and Sewage Treatment Plant etc which are the cutting edge of Green Technology. At The Orchid, our staff are fondly referred to as "Team Members" They who have hoped to create and continue to execute our Mission Statement.
The concern for the Environment in our team members has reached such a crescendo, that even in their spare time, they go out into localities on a "clean up drive" thereby passing on the message to all and sundry that we must take care of our environment.
We have left no stone unturned in our quest for a clean environment to the extent that we have provided opportunities for our guest to be a part of our environmental programmes.

We have a green purchasing policy whereby we are greening the supply line. By buying recycled products we not only reduce the depletion of non-renewable resources but also fuel the recycle market. Our special needs have created an entirely new niche of opportunities for suppliers who have adopted to our environment way of thinking. This year our suppliers have agreed to reduce the total packaging of our supplies by 30%.
The Orchid has thrown its doors open to its Industry colleagues who have visited The Orchid on various occasions. Over 25 different hotels have visited us from he time we commenced. The Orchid has also been working closely with the Federation of Hotels & Restaurant Association of India as well as Hotel & Food Services Review and International Hotel and Restaurant Association on various occasions.
The Orchid has not restricted itself to the hotel only but has undertaken innumerable activities, events, campaigns etc to create and spread the awareness of being environmentally sensitive.
We work closely with more than 12 non-government organizations associated with environmental work and over 10,000 students belonging to about 70 schools and colleges have visited our Hotel and seen our environmental initiatives.
The Orchid has also forged alliance with more than 12non-governmental organization's in the city.
The Orchid has also spearheaded the ADVANCED LOCALITY MANAGEMENT (ALM) programme of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM). Under this programme the residents of a particular area or lane take up the cleaning and maintenance of that place by contributing Re. 1/- per day. We were the first commercial entity to take it up in such a large scale. It was on The Orchid's initiative and drive, which got together 5, neighbouring hotels to join and adopt this programme.
Our efforts have been recognised and we are fortunate to receive many awards. The Media has also encouraged us with forefront publicity and has led to The Orchid being a well-patronized Hotel with 80% of the top 100 companies in India choosing to stay with us. We also enjoy about 55% of the guest being repeat clients which goes to prove that guests care for the Environment and this strengthens our resolve to continue our efforts of greening the Hotel Industry
