• The latest in the collection of awards is the World Travel Market's Green Globe Environmental Company Awards 2000 received on 15th November 2000 at London. This is the second time that The Orchid has received this award, the first being in 1998.

• The latest feather in our cap has been receiving the Pata Gold Awards 2001 for the best Corporate Environmental Programme. The award ceremony took place in April 2001 at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The award was collected by Mr. Vithal Kamat, Managing Director of The Orchid Hotel.

• Another feat achieved by The Orchid was the ISO 14001 certification which The Orchid managed to bag in less than a years time. The Orchid has been successful in demonstrating that 2 separate certifications, namely ECOTEL and ISO 14001 can operate in harmony.

• Rotary Club of Mumbai North Island awarded to Mr Vithal Kamat for his concern towards environment protection and providing the 1st Eco-friendly 5 star hotel in Asia to the city of Mumbai - July 2001.
• The Orchid also won the prestigious British Airways Tourism for Tomorrow Award 2001 in the Accommodation Category.
• The Orchid received the distinction of "Highly recommended" in the environment category from International Hotel & Restaurant Association in the year 2001.
Due to the September 11th 2001 tragedy a formal award ceremony did not take place for the above 2 awards.
• PATA India Chapter Environment Award 2001, awarded in Delhi on 1 st November 2001. The award was collected by the Chairman and Managing Director Mr. Vithal Kamat and Technical Director Mr. K. P. Kannampilly, on behalf of The Orchid.

• The award for Best Traffic Island was presented to The Orchid by Padma Bhushan Gaurav Puraskar Air Marshal Minoo M. Engineer and Mrs Gul Minoo Engineer.
• Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Civic Award, 1998-99 for beautification of Mumbai was presented to The Orchid for development of Traffic Island garden at the junction of K.B. Patil Marg and Madame Cama road. |
