to qualify for this globe, The Orchid was required to ensure that :
- There are no leaks in pipes or valves in the hotel.
- All public space and guest room faucets are equipped with low-flow aerators rated at 2.2 gallons per minute or less and that all guest room shower heads are equipped with low-flow aerators rated at 2.5 gallons per minute or less.
- Irrigation of the grounds never occurs between 11am and 5pm, as this is the time when the sun's rays are most intense and excessive evaporation occurs.
- The Orchid minimises the addition of toxins in the water system as they jeopardise the effectiveness of waste water treatment facilities and kill useful micro-organisms responsible for the bio degradation of waste.
